EMS Competes in Battle of the Books

Eastwood Middle School students participated in the 2015 Battle of the Books Tournament on March 31.  The event took place at Five Points Baptist Church in Northport, AL.  The two EMS Battle teams competed in seven rounds of Battle Book questions against other area schools, where we worked hard against some tough competition.  Each round consisted of three periods of questions.

Congratulations to Kyla Thomas and Jamarlia Cooper for being named VIP for each of their teams.  We’re so proud of all our students who participated in the tournament and can’t wait for next year!

Also, I couldn’t have done all this without the help of our chaperones:  Reneathe Martin, Yvonne Giles, and Paula Davis.

The reading list for the tournament was Counting by Sevens, Prisoner B-3087, Cinder, Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie, The False Prince, The Testing, Middle School:  The Worst Years of My Life, and “The President has been Shot!” : the Assassination of John F. Kennedy.
